The Dallas Cowboys piled up 508 yards at Lucas Oil Stadium and still trailed with 1:37 to play. Spencer Shrader's fourth field goal, from 50 yards, put the Indianapolis Colts up 23-20. Twenty-nine seconds of game clock later, Javonte Williams went in from 1 yard, and Dallas left with a 27-23 win.

The yardage gap was wide. The scoreboard was not, largely because Dallas converted 5 of 16 third downs, turned the ball over twice and settled for field goals while Shrader kept the Colts close with his leg.

How it was won

Brandon Aubrey opened the scoring with a 45-yard field goal at 11:45 of the first quarter. Indianapolis answered with Seth McGowan's 2-yard run for a 7-3 lead.

Dak Prescott took over the second quarter. He found Jake Ferguson for a 10-yard touchdown at 14:08, then hit CeeDee Lamb for 44 yards with 21 seconds left in the half. Dallas went in up 17-7.

The third quarter swung twice. Shrader hit from 47, Aubrey from 28 to make it 20-10, and then Daniel Jones threw 55 yards to Ashton Dulin with 1:17 left in the period. That was Dulin's only catch of the day, and it made it 20-17.

Shrader tied it with a 59-yard field goal at 5:56 of the fourth and gave Indianapolis the lead with his 50-yarder at 1:37. Williams answered at 1:08, and Aubrey's kick made it a four-point game.

The numbers:

  • Total yards: Dallas 508, Indianapolis 271
  • Rushing: Dallas 179, Indianapolis 105
  • First downs: Dallas 22, Indianapolis 15
  • Third down: Dallas 5-16, Indianapolis 3-13
  • Turnovers: 2 each
  • Possession: Dallas 35:43, Indianapolis 24:17

Prescott finished 21 of 34 for 335 yards and two touchdowns. Lamb caught 10 passes for 195 yards and a score, the clearest mismatch on the field. Ryan Flournoy added 2 catches for 53 yards.

The run game carried the clock. Williams had 101 yards on 20 carries with the winning touchdown, and Tyler Goodson added 77 yards on 12 carries.

For Indianapolis, Jones went 20 of 34 for 180 yards, a touchdown and an interception. Jonathan Taylor was held to 46 yards on 13 carries, while McGowan got 45 on six. Tyler Warren led the Colts with 4 catches for 44 yards.

Against the number

Dallas closed as a 4.5-point favorite and won by four, so the Colts covered. A team that outgains its opponent by 237 yards usually clears that, but red-zone and third-down misses kept the margin short.

The total closed at 51.5 and the teams combined for 50, so the under held. Two late field goals and a late touchdown pushed it close without getting there.

On the moneyline, Dallas at -218 paid; Indianapolis closed at +180. Full closing prices are on the game page.

What's next

The win gets Dallas to 4-5 after a 30-33 home loss to Arizona the week before. The Cowboys have alternated wins and losses for most of the season, and they have not won consecutive games yet.

Next up is the San Francisco 49ers at home on Sunday, November 15, 2026, on Fox. We will post the price for that one when the market opens.

Indianapolis falls to 2-7. The Colts' next game will be linked here once it is on the board.
