Cowboys at Colts: Dallas (3-5) and Indianapolis (2-6) Meet in Week 9
Two teams with losing records meet at Lucas Oil Stadium, and Dallas arrives shorthanded with its offense under scrutiny and Pickens' role in question.
Both of these teams are running out of room. The Cowboys come into Lucas Oil Stadium at 3-5, the Colts at 2-6, and Sunday's 1:00 PM ET kickoff on Fox is a chance for one of them to stop the slide. For Dallas, the questions start at home. According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys will be without two starters, with four more listed as questionable. ESPN reports that the offense's production needs to step up, and Yahoo Sports reports that the team has been talking in circles about George Pickens and how he fits.
The matchup puts Dak Prescott against a Colts team led by Daniel Jones at quarterback. Indianapolis leans on Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, with Tyler Warren and Josh Downs as targets in the passing game. Sports Illustrated reports that CJ Allen is taking on a bigger role as the Cowboys work through their injury concerns. With depth already tested, that may decide how well Dallas holds up over four quarters.
Prescott's passing yards line sits at 263.5, and CeeDee Lamb's receiving line is 81.5, the highest of any pass catcher in the game. Pickens is set at 63.5, a number worth watching given the questions about his usage. Javonte Williams is listed at 70.5 rushing yards. On the other side, Jones is at 207.5 passing yards and Taylor at 61.5 rushing, while Warren and Downs are both at 42.5 receiving.
The market has Dallas as the road favorite, with the Colts getting 5.5 points and the total set at 51.5. That suggests the market expects plenty of scoring, and expects the Cowboys' offense to deliver it even while shorthanded.
